Monster trout gets the season underway

With fishing underway again on the Leadon early catch reports are coming in thick and fast and we are seeing wild brownies as well as monster stock fish showing up. It means the wild trout have started to repopulate our waters which is great news.

Our pictures also show that at least some of the “blue dot” farm fish, stocked by the Environment Agency in 2017 are thriving. The larger of the two fish weighed in at 4lbs 2oz and measured 20 inches! Members are encouraged to take a couple of stock fish per session if you are lucky enough to connect with these beasts! They are easy enough to identify either by the blue dot on the underbelly in between the pectoral fins. Other clues are the size and colouring with the difference showing up well in the photos. . Please return any darker, smaller fish which are likely to be wild trout.
